Key organizations play a significant role in governing and promoting Agile project management practices worldwide:

Project Management Institute (PMI)

PMI is one of the most reputable organizations in project management. While traditionally focused on standard project management, PMI has adapted to the rise of Agile by introducing the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP®) certification [2]. PMI also governs the Disciplined Agile (DA) toolkit, which offers a comprehensive approach to enterprise agility.

Agile Alliance

Agile Alliance is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting Agile values, principles, and practices [9]. Founded by the authors of the Agile Manifesto in 2001, it has grown into an influential organization that hosts conferences and provides resources for the Agile community [10].

Scrum Alliance

The Scrum Alliance is a prominent organization focused on Scrum, one of the most popular Agile frameworks. It offers various certifications and resources for Scrum practitioners [10].

Agile Business Consortium

Formerly known as the DSDM Consortium, the Agile Business Consortium is a non-profit professional body that aims to promote business agility worldwide [8]. They have certified over 189,000 Agile Project Managers and offer resources, tools, and publications related to Agile practices.

AXELOS

AXELOS, a joint venture between the UK Government and PeopleCert, manages and develops globally recognized best practice frameworks [2]. They developed PRINCE2 Agile, which combines the structure of PRINCE2 with Agile methodologies.

Project Management Association of Canada (PMAC)

PMAC offers the Certified Agile Project Manager (Cert.APM) certification, which is aimed at project managers looking for credentials beyond basic project management certifications [5].

These organizations play crucial roles in setting standards, providing certifications, and offering resources to support the adoption and advancement of Agile project management practices globally.
